From the Kamas Valley it is about twenty minutes west over Browns Canyon to our Summit office.

All Well Child Checkups

What do you check during a well-child visit?

We do everything in one appointment, because one appointment has to do the work of several out here. We check growth against your child's own history, examine them fully, test vision and hearing, complete the screening due at that age, review immunizations, and leave time to talk.

For families in the Kamas Valley we also use the visit to cover the practical things that come with living farther out — what to do about an injury at the weekend, when a fever is worth the drive, and what we can handle over the phone.

Who will my child see?

Distance makes continuity matter more, not less: the person seeing your child is holding the thread across appointments that are farther apart than most families'. That is one pediatrician or advanced practice provider at Summit, visit after visit.

Where something further is needed, your provider can coordinate it rather than leaving you to start again.

Why do these visits matter for families in Kamas?

These visits find what nobody would drive twenty minutes to report — slow speech masking a hearing loss, a growth curve flattening, low iron, a spine starting to curve, or a teenager who has quietly stopped enjoying anything.

For a rural family this is often the only regular contact with the practice at all, which is exactly why it is worth keeping.

When should my child come in?

Come in often in the first two and a half years — newborn, two weeks, then 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24, and 30 months — and then once a year through twenty-one.

Plan around the weather rather than the calendar. SR-248 over Browns Canyon is straightforward most of the year and worth avoiding in a storm, so autumn and spring appointments are the easiest to keep.

How do I book a visit from Kamas?

Call our Summit office or request a visit online. If you have several children, book them into one block — the drive is the expensive part of the visit, not the visit.

Bring the immunization record if you are new, any forms, and a written list of everything you meant to ask.

Which office is closest to Kamas?

Our Summit office is at 750 Round Valley Drive, Suite 102, at Quinn's Junction. The drive takes about eighteen to twenty-four minutes west on SR-248 over Browns Canyon, and because the office sits at the junction with US-40 you arrive without driving through Park City at all.

The nearest valley office is a long way past that: our Salt Lake office at 3838 South 700 East is roughly fifty-five to seventy minutes, north to I-80, down Parley's Canyon and south on I-215.

There is no real choice to make for a routine visit — Summit is a quarter of the drive on the road you already use. Knowing the valley offices exist matters for scheduling and weather: if SR-248 is closed or we are booked out at Summit, an office in the valley is the same practice with the same records, and it is worth asking rather than skipping the year.
