Vomiting and Diarrhea in Children

Vomiting and diarrhea often occur together when the stomach and intestines become irritated or infected. Vomiting empties stomach contents, while diarrhea causes stools to become loose or watery.

Viruses are a common cause of both symptoms. Bacteria, parasites, food poisoning, medicines and other digestive illnesses can also cause vomiting and diarrhea at the same time.
