Roseola

Roseola is a viral illness that mainly affects babies and toddlers. It usually causes several days of fever followed by a pink or red rash as the fever goes away.

Human herpesvirus 6 is the most common cause, although human herpesvirus 7 can cause similar illness. The viruses spread from person to person through saliva and respiratory secretions.

Call 911 or get emergency care if:

  • Your child has severe trouble breathing or is very difficult to wake.
  • You think your child has a life-threatening emergency.

When can my child be seen

Every office keeps same-day appointments for illness and injury.

This evening or at the weekend.

Most offices run After Hours Care, by appointment rather than walk-in.

If you are worried, call. We would rather answer a question that turns out to be nothing.
